Liam Jeninga

Actor, Musician, Puppet Designer

About Liam

Liam found his passion for performing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, working with The Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and First Stage. His training includes: Northwestern University, BS in Theatre and Acting, the British American Drama Academy, and the Bienen School of Music.

"Nothing stole the show quite like Ken, the talking dog next door... Jeninga’s performance was uncanny yet still comedic — tapping into a cartoonish but tender representation of dog-ness. Ultimately, Jeninga made it clear: If dogs did talk, this is exactly how they’d be."

“Puppets are very ancient entertainers. They don’t just go back to the crib; They go back to the cave.” – Orson Welles

Puppets inspire great philosophy. Influenced by the innovative puppet theaters of Chicago, Liam began his puppet-making career with a sixty-foot dragon and a self-aware nose. He has a growing interest in Toy Theatre and the intersection between puppetry and disability aesthetics.

"Each one of [the puppets] is just an extraordinary piece of craftsmanship and artistry from Liam and from the actors who are puppeteering them so well."

"Lurch (Liam Jeninga) adds another strong performance. Jeninga’s command of physical comedy was especially evident."

"The standout was Liam Jeninga, who so totally nailed the monologues about his feelings and his place in the family late in the play. I didn’t see it coming but he played it just right."
